Specialised Birth Preparation Roadmap for Individual Needs
A trauma-informed roadmap for the woman whose history, nervous system, or life circumstances mean she needs something different from what everyone else is being offered.
This is for you if:
You are pregnant and something about the approaching birth feels heavier than you can explain. It might be a previous birth that never quite settled. It might be older trauma you have worked through and are hoping will hold. It might be the knowledge that your nervous system processes the world more intensely than most, and that the birth room is not going to be any different. It might be the loneliness of doing this far from the family and village you always expected to have around you.
You have looked at the standard antenatal checklists and they do not quite fit. You are not sure what to do with that feeling, only that you cannot ignore it.
This roadmap was built for that feeling.
Inside the Birth Preparation Roadmap:
A self-orientation worksheet (Stage 1) — Four sets of reflection questions to help you identify what your nervous system is actually carrying into this pregnancy, before you make a single practical decision.
Five personalised preparation paths (Stage 2) — One page for each of the five doorways women arrive through: a previous birth still present in the body, healed trauma that may show up again, a highly sensitive nervous system, the fear of surrender, and navigating an unfamiliar system without your village. You read the one that is yours.
A Birth Support Plan template (Stage 3) — A fillable template built from seven years of sitting with women before their births. It covers what you bring to yourself, what you need from your birth partner, and what you need from your medical team — including consent language, the BRAIN framework, and communication scripts that work in a birth setting.
A sensory considerations checklist — Questions to help you map your sensory profile before you build the birth environment, so the conditions of the room can work with your nervous system rather than against it.
A closing reflection — On what a PDF can and cannot give you, and what to do if something in this roadmap surfaces something that needs more than a worksheet.
The roadmap is 18 pages, grounded in clinical training and seven years of lived practice. It does not tell you what kind of birth to have. It helps you understand what kind of preparation you actually need.
This roadmap is for any woman who knows, in some quiet part of herself, that she needs more than the standard approach, whether she has a formal diagnosis of ADHD, autism, or another neurodivergent condition, is still piecing it together, identifies as highly sensitive or an empath, has a trauma history, or is simply pregnant in a country that does not yet feel entirely like home.
This resource is for informational and reflective purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional clinical support. If you are experiencing significant distress or mental health difficulties during pregnancy, please reach out to a qualified healthcare professional. If you are in crisis or feel at risk of harming yourself or your baby, contact emergency services or your local crisis line immediately.
