A Group for Mothers Far From Home
Motherhood is isolating in the best circumstances. Doing it in a country that is not yours, without your mother, your language, or anyone who knew you before, is another thing entirely.
Most of the mothers I work with have described some version of the same evening. The baby is finally down. You scroll. You find something that names a feeling you have not been able to say out loud. You save it. You close the app and you look around, and there is still nobody to share it with. That is what this is for.
What it is
Six weekly sessions of ninety minutes, with five or six of us. Small enough that nobody disappears, large enough that you are not the only one talking. Each session has a theme, shared with you in advance so you know what is coming. There is space to bring whatever is live for you that week. Some weeks you may want to talk. Some weeks you may want to sit and listen, and that is a legitimate way to be there.
Before we begin, we have a private conversation, just the two of us. It is not an interview. It helps me understand what you are bringing, and it means you walk into the first session having already met someone. That conversation is included.
Who it is for
You may be ADHD, Autistic, or AuDHD. You may be highly sensitive. You may have no diagnosis at all, only a lifelong sense that you feel things more deeply and recover more slowly than the people around you.
I did most of my own mothering without knowing. The diagnosis came much later, and it explained a great deal that I had spent years assuming was a failure of character. You do not need a label to belong here.
You might be in the first year and quietly stunned by how hard it is. You might be further along and still carrying something from your birth. You might be functioning perfectly well from the outside and wondering why it costs you so much.
How it is built
Groups can be hard work when your nervous system already works hard. This one is designed with that in mind.
Structure is shared in advance, so you are never caught out. No round-the-room turn-taking where you have to perform on cue. Clear start and finish times, kept to. The chat is there if speaking is too much on a given day. Camera optional, always, and no explanation needed.
None of this makes the group less useful for anyone else. It makes it possible for some of us.
Your safety is my priority. This space is held by a counsellor trained in trauma, not a peer circle. That distinction matters when the material is tender: it means someone is watching the room, tracking how people are doing, and slowing things down when they need to slow down.
The online group
Runs on Google Meet, six weekly sessions, with mothers joining from wherever they are. Most of the women in my practice are living far from where they started, so this group tends to hold a particular kind of recognition.
€295 for the six weeks, including your one-to-one conversation beforehand.
This is a founding cohort price. I would rather build this with a first group and get it right than launch it fully formed and wrong.
The Eindhoven group
I am also putting together an in-person group for mothers in and around Eindhoven.
There is a great deal of English-speaking support here for pregnancy and the first weeks. There is very little for what comes after, and almost nothing for mothers whose brains work differently. I would like to change that, starting small.
Same shape: six sessions, a small group, somewhere quiet. Dates and venue will be set once I know who is interested and what actually works for people.
If you are local, register below and I will be in touch.Register your interest
I am gathering interest first so I can build this around the mothers who actually want it, rather than deciding everything in advance and hoping.
Leave your details and I will write to you when dates are set. No obligation, and no follow-up beyond this unless you ask for it.
I have compiled a small list of questions that I think are important to address. If there is something else you would like to find out before considering registering, please reach out, and I will reply as soon as possible. Your Questions, Answered-
That is a fair thing to worry about, particularly if you have been in a group before where nobody noticed you had gone quiet.
This group is held by a trauma-trained counsellor, and holding that is my job, not yours. You will never be asked to go into detail about anything painful. You can step away from the screen or leave the room at any point without explaining, and I will follow up with you afterwards. If a session opens something that needs more than a group can hold, I will say so and we will talk about what would help.
I have spent years sitting with women in the hardest moments of their lives. You will not be too much here.
-
A small group of mothers, five or six of us. What is said in the group stays in the group, and I will ask everyone to agree to that before we begin. I will never share anything you bring, and I will not use anything from the group in my writing or on social media.
For the Eindhoven group, do tell me in your registration if you would rather not be in a room with someone you might know locally. It is a small city and that is a reasonable thing to want.

No. Many of the mothers I work with have one. Many suspect something and have never pursued it. Many have simply always felt things more intensely than the people around them. All of that belongs here.
-
Then don't. Listening is a legitimate way to be in a group, and no one will put you on the spot. There is a chat option if typing feels easier on a given day.
-
No. This is not a birth trauma group. If your birth is part of what you are carrying it is welcome, but nobody will ask you to go into it.
-
Life with small children is what it is. Come when you can. I would rather you missed two sessions than dropped out because you missed one.
-
Yes. I want to make this space inclusive and as supportive as I can. Child care is hard to arrange and might be an extra cost in your budget that creates more obstacles than support.
-
Registering interest commits you to nothing. When dates are set I will write to you, and you decide then.
-
No. It is a facilitated group, held by a trained counsellor. If something comes up that needs individual work I will say so and we can talk about it separately.
